Spring Equinox

Mar 20, 2026

“The day the sun stands equal with the night is a reminder that balance is possible.”
- Rebecca Solnit

Greetings, friends.

Spring reminds us that growth rarely happens all at once—it unfolds slowly, with patience, attention, and care. After months of inward tending, the world begins to soften, stretch, and open again. Buds form where branches once looked bare. Light lingers longer. Beneath the surface, what has been resting gathers the courage to grow. Join me in a soft unfolding.

Below you’ll find:

• a simple Spring practice

• a reflective journal prompt

•  a book recommendation

• a practice update

A Flower Mandala: A Spring Practice

A simple spring practice is to create a flower mandala using small treasures gathered on a walk—fallen petals, leaves, twigs, stones, or seed pods. When you return, arrange them slowly in a circle on the ground or a table, starting from the center and working outward. As you build the pattern, notice colors, textures, and shapes, letting the process be more about attention than perfection. When the mandala feels complete, pause for a moment to appreciate the beauty created from what the season is offering.

Reflecting on the Season: Journaling Prompts

The equinox invites us to notice where balance is needed in our own lives and where new energy is beginning to stir.

1. What is ready to grow? What needs tending?

2. What small beginnings are asking for your attention?

3. What ideas, boundaries, hopes, or changes are beginning to take shape?

Bookmarking the Season

This spring, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, I recommend Micro Activism: How You Can Make a Difference in the World Without a Bullhorn by Omkari L. Williams. The book reminds us that meaningful change doesn’t always come from big, visible actions—sometimes it begins with small, consistent steps taken where we are. Williams encourages readers to find their own “activist archetype” and engage in simple, sustainable actions that fit their strengths and capacity. Like spring itself, the message is hopeful: small beginnings—tended over time—can grow into lasting change.

Covenstead NW, LLC: A Practice Update

Finally, it's here! Each Saturday in April and May I’ll be attending SoulCollage® training so I can offer creative, soul-centered workshops for self-reflection and community building. I am also looking to partner with other providers to offer half-full day retreats.

If this work resonates with you—or with someone you know—please pass along my info and invite them to sign up for my newsletter at www.covensteadnw.com, and follow along on Instagram @covenstead_nw for more updates and inspiration.

May this season offer renewal, not pressure.
May you notice what is quietly beginning to grow.

In the returning light of spring,

The Winter Solstice (longest night of darkness in the year) invites us to honor what is resting, what is ending, and what is preparing to rise within us. In this sacred pause, we turn inward, trusting the unseen work happening beneath the surface. Th...
