Winter Solstice
".The night will give you a horizon further than you can see."
- David Whyte (from poem Sweet Darkness)
Welcome, friends. I'm so glad you're here.
The Winter Solstice (longest night of darkness in the year) invites us to honor what is resting, what is ending, and what is preparing to rise within us. In this sacred pause, we turn inward, trusting the unseen work happening beneath the surface. This is a season for slow magic, reflection, and tending the embers of our own resilience.
Below you’ll find:
• a simple winter ritual
• a reflective journal prompt
• a colleague's accomplishment
• and a new downloadable offer: Pages for the Soul (A Self-Help Book Club)
Intention Setting: A Winter Ritual

Find a pinecone. On small scraps of paper, write your goals, intentions, and wishes for the season ahead. Roll each paper tightly and place them into the openings of the pinecone.
When you’re ready, offer the pinecone to a fire. As it burns, visualize the fire carrying your intentions forward—transforming them into energy, momentum, and renewal.
Let the fire do the work. Trust the release.
Reflecting on the Season: Journaling Prompts
Winter invites us to slow, listen, and remember that rest is part of the cycle—not a failure of momentum. In the quiet of the season, we can turn toward the wisdom that came before us and the roots that still hold us.
- What parts of me are asking for rest right now—and what happens when I listen?
- If I trusted the slow work of winter, what would I stop forcing?
- What traditions—old or new—feel grounding and worth keeping?
Bookmarking the Season
This season I want to highlight the work of my esteemed colleague, Dr. Kimberley Dockery, LMFT, owner of Planted in Wellness and author of the new perinatal self-care journal "Sis, Take Care of You." The journal is a wonderful companion to those in the perinatal period.
